Line and Copy Editing
Line editing is the process of looking at each sentence individually, ensuring the entire manuscript flows well by improving the language. This means some sentences may need to be reworked, but I will always maintain the author's voice during edits. Copyediting is where I focus more on the details of the manuscript: the grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and maintaining the style throughout. This step occurs after self-editing has been completed.
I have streamlined my process and now do two read-throughs during the editing stage, with a round of author revisions in between.

Proofreading
Proofreading is the final process for a manuscript before it is ready for publication, meaning it should have already gone through the editing phase with a professional editor. Proofreading includes one read-through, looking for incorrect spelling, punctuation, and missing or extra words.
